Litany III
for flute and cello

The
main theme of this piece came from an improvisation by Lee McClure
(flute) and James P. Nelson (guitar) in the 1970's. The many evolutions
of the theme include pieces for "Litany to the Holy Spirit" flute and piano (1985); "Litany to the Holy Spirit" chorus and piano
(1988); "Litany II" brass quintet (1992); Litany III (electric) flute and cello (1995); "Danse Nebulae" ballet
for five dancers, electric flute & Latin percussion (2007).
